Some of the weapons are quite interesting. It will run under Windows 9x. On a DOS pc, do not load INT13X. The game suffers from numerous bugs (depending on the version), and can crash while you walk through walls. There's a major bug if you complete the game by defeating the VORTEX: after entering your name for the high score, the game crashes without saving your score. To get around this, when facing the VORTEX save your game, then quit. Now you can enter your name and it will be saved. Then restore the game and defeat the VORTEX (it doesn't attack you). Another bug is to make the invisible aliens visible. At the start of the level, save your game, then turn the visor on to red, then restore the game. Those invisible aliens will now be bright red. There's a few mapping errors as well - the beta is riddled with them, but most are fixed in the registered version. The beta will crash when the red monkey wakes up on level 20. To select various options (sound devices etc), run the SETUP program. Items to be found: ----------------- Suit of armor: Helps make you somewhat less vulnerable. Mines: Alien dies after passing over it. Floor plan: You can see entire map of the floor. Adrenaline boost: Makes you more robust for a while. Invulnerability sphere: Makes you temporarily invulnerable. M-343 minigun: Looks like a shark's head, but very effective. Ammo pack: Ammo for M-343. Alien gun: After killing a robot, collect this. Alien charge pack: Extra ammo for alien gun. Flamethrower: Throws a huge ball of blue flame. Visor battery: New battery for visor. Special cavities (only on levels of Earth design): ---------------- Ammo: For normal gun First aid: Recharge your health (press Spacebar twice) Health station: Big boost to health Computer terminal: Some give you blue access card, some give red access card, others complain of Intruder alert. Electrified doorway: Can be opened by standing in front and pressing space. Secret Walls ------------ In common with all games derived from Wolfenstein-3D, there are pushwalls that when pushed with the spacebar will slide away 2 spaces, as long as that space is empty. This reveals a "Restricted" Area, which counts towards your points. Levels 1 to 29 have a secret level that runs all the way around the outside. The Visor: --------- Depending on the game version, press V or ENTER to activate the visor. Press once gives the green visor, press again for red visor, once more to turn it off. There is no apparent use for the green visor, but the red visor helps in 4 ways. 1. You can see invisible aliens 2. You can see the invisible wall-to-ceiling heat bars (they hurt) 3. You can see the circular heat devices (they also hurt) 4. You can see what kind of computer terminal you have before operating it. The visor flattens the battery quickly, so use it briefly. The Map: ------- The map shows in the top corner when TAB is pressed. It goes away when starting a new level. The map has 2 possible states: 1. Shows your immediate area and any awake aliens in that area 2. Shows the entire floor and all aliens. If you are on a difficulty setting of CAPTAIN, MAJOR or PRESIDENT, your map starts at the first state. It can be upgraded by finding the FLOOR PLAN. Restricted areas are not shown. Some areas containing packing-cases are also not shown. Object of the game: ------------------- 1. Kill all of the aliens. Depending on the difficulty level, you only need a certain precentage before getting the elevator clearance message. 2. On levels of Earth design, find the access cards to gain access to all rooms. 3. Find all of the secret and restricted areas. Bonus levels: ------------- The registered version has bonus levels accessible from levels 1,5,10,15,20 and 25. The beta only has one bonus level, accessible from just outside the elevator on level 1. Whatever happens in the bonus level doesn't affect the main game, except of course for the extra scoring. Even if you die, you don't lose a life; the level ends instead. Keys: ---- Arrow keys Move about Space Open doors, operate computer terminal, push secret walls etc TAB Turn on map, you are blue dot, aliens are yellow. M Drop mine V/ENTER Operate visor, switches green/red/normal (if battery ok) Function keys Quick save, exit, etc (See instructions in game) ESC Back to main menu CTRL Fire 1 Electric gun (reg version: it autofires; other versions require manual firing) 2 Normal gun (if you have some ammo) 3 M-343 minigun (if you have it & ammo pack) 4 Alien gun (if you have it & sufficient charge) 5 Flamethrower (if you have it) Last Update: 2024-05-03
