.IAN BOTHAM'S CRICKET
Cracked! (sort of) by me! CRICKET.BAT had to be rewritten, to allow
you to exit properly. BLOCK1.EXE and BLOCK2.EXE call each other
internally, so no need to specify BLOCK2.EXE in the batch file.
BLOCK1.EXE contains the protection and the team selection screens;
BLOCK2.EXE starts with the toss and has the game proper.
To remove the protection was too difficult, however the program
can be 'fooled' into thinking the protection has been passed
when it hasn't.
BLOCK1.EXE was copied to CR.EXE (a new file), and 3 bytes changed:
1D0D: 00 -> 02 ) Preset expected output values
1D1C: 00 00 -> B8 88 ) into memory locations so that
a later test will be 'passed'.
CRICKET.BAT now starts CR.EXE, which calls BLOCK2.EXE. When you
press Esc BLOCK1.EXE is called. It does not check protection
at this point, so the protection has been beaten.
To start: CRICKET.BAT
To run setup again: CRICKET S
To quit: While game is playing, press Esc just before the bowler bowls
At the toss, press Esc takes you to team selection
At team selection, press Esc to quit
If Esc doesn't work press Reset
Sometimes after playing this game the computer will not seem to
be its usual self. Reboot to fix this.
To play: CRICKET.BAT
When you see the first graphic, press Space.
Next you will see the coin spinning (the toss). Quickly press Esc.
You get the Team Selection screen. Use the arrows to move
the ball around. Move on flags to choose what teams will play.
Move on scroll to get 'about'. Move onto + 55 - to adjust
number of overs per side.
Press floppy-disk symbol to load a saved game.
Press PLAY or NEW to start. You can also modify your
team lineup. You can have the computer play itself (CPU vs CPU),
or change one or both to human players (1P vs 2P).
I haven't tried a non-cpu player yet, so I cannot say how to
bat or bowl.

This game is clearly not representative of a real cricket match.
What is a 'one-day international test match'?
What side would get 24 runs an over (including 10 no-balls), and
then be 6 wickets for 2 runs in the next game.
The number of legal balls and no-balls is about equal
The side-on and normal view of the bowler show different feet placement.
Some legal balls are clearly no-balls, and visa-versa.
There's lots more but it's obviously not much of a game.
